William “Bill” Edward Scurry 71, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on Sunday, October 10th, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Bill graduated from Ware County High School in 1967 in Waycross, GA. Right after high school, he was hired as an electronics technician for ATT / Bell South. During this time, he also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1969 - 1975. Later, Bill attended Georgia State University from 1970-1972. He graduated from Lanier Tech in 2000 with honors & a 4.0 average with an Associates Degree in Computer Information Systems. In all, Bill completed 32 years of exemplary employment, rarely missing a day of work, before retiring in 2001. Then, he went back to work for Synovus in Facilities, in 2005 for 16 years, continuing contract work until 2021.

What endeared others about Bill, was how he treated them with love & respect. To his family, he became known as “Mr. Fix-It”! They liked to say, “If Grandpa can’t fix it, nobody can.” Anyone who knew Bill, knew that he loved spending time with Jesus, his friends and family. He was an active member of Browns Bridge Community Church and Mentor at Vickery & DeSantis Middle Schools. As a matter of fact, he had a perfect white beard & decided to play Santa. He always loved playing Santa for children, seniors & even pets in schools, in a retirement center & even an animal shelter! Bill really enjoyed helping others and being a skilled handyman. The world lost a loving man with a servant heart and heaven gained a new angel.

“So, there’s a handy man in Heaven now, who built his life on dreams. No tasks, no chores, no obstacles. But loved the challenges of extremes. A caring, honest provider that unselfishly gave his all, A heart of gold and hands of steel that responded to the call. A husband, a dad, a granddad too that would help you to the end. A reliable person of integrity that all wanted and enjoyed as a friend. There’s a handy man in heaven now who’s fixing heaven’s gate, oiling the hinges with pride and care so that they will open for all who wait” (Author unknown)
