Virginia Marie Jones

Virginia Marie Jones of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on May 16, 2023.

Born Virginia "Ginny" Marie Patz on April 26, 1957 in Cortland, New York. Virginia's family moved to Starke, Florida then to Orange Park, Florida where she graduated from Orange Park High School in 1975, and then in 1978 received her B.A. in Latin from Florida State University. She spent most of her teaching career in Gainesville, Florida at Bucholz High School and in 1987 she received her Master of Arts in teaching from a school that was not FSU, but still in Florida. Ginny married Jimmie Jones, also of Orange Park in 1991 and settled in Cumming, Georgia in 1997. She is survived by sister Karen Kesler (Tom), and brothers Alan Patz (Chris) and Larry Patz (Diana). She is preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, her parents Ernie and Fran Patz, and 6 of her beloved rescued Golden Retrievers. 

A visitation will be held at McDonald and Son Funeral Home on May 27, 2023, from 1:00PM-2:00PM. 

A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00PM in the chapel of McDonald and Son.
