Sheryl Jones

October 25, 1952 ~ November 9, 2021 (age 69)

On November 9, 2021, God called one of his angels home when Sheryl Cofer Jones went to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend whose shining example of faith, service and love will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.  She was born October 25, 1952, to William Cofer and Jeanette Cash Cofer in Tucker, GA, and is survived by her husband Trevor Jones, her children Misty Hand Dragon (Ian), Marcus Hand (Valerie), Randy Hand (Jenna) and Kerry Hand (Dawn), her five grandchildren Benjamin Hand, Sophie Hand, Laura Hand, Austin Hand and Dylan Hand, her brothers Boyce Cofer and Bryan Cofer, numerous friends, and her dear furry child Annie.

From the humblest of beginnings, she put her faith in Christ and enjoyed a rich, full life in which she lived as an example to all of the simple and powerful virtues of faith, love and service to her family and friends. Her love was unconditional and she was always ready to help those in need.  Her warmth and quick wit could lift even the darkest of clouds or make a good day even better. As a master of traditional Southern cooking, her buttermilk biscuits (white lily only, thank you) and cornbread made every meal a treat. And if you were lucky enough, Sunday dinner often saw her perform the miracle of elevating a plain old roast into the legendary desert roast.

Even in her retirement she sought out opportunities to help, ranging from providing food and company to elderly shut-ins to gathering clothes for young mothers making the difficult choice to keep their unplanned children.  To those who knew her, she was a light unto the world, showing all of us how to make a positive difference in the world, without judgment or expectation of reward.  Her faith in God and the power of prayer never wavered, and she was regularly heard to bless the hearts of even those who momentarily caused her consternation.

She sleeps with the angels tonight, and is now reunited with her furry children Carly, Simon, and Flashy.  Sheryl keeps watch over those of us left to fill the void that her return to Heaven has created. May we be equal to the task, and carry on her example of selfless, Christian love.

Her memorial service will be Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Midway Community Church, 3365 Francis Road, Alpharetta, GA 30004.  In lieu of flowers and cards, the family would request donations to Whispering Hope Womens Center at
