Shannon Allison Warr of Cumming, Georgia lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, January 3, 2020.
Shannon was born in Atlanta and attended Pace Academy. She then received a B.A. in English from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University where she was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity. After getting married and the birth of her first child, she obtained a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Thomas College and a Masters in Education from Piedmont College. Shannon worked for over 20 years in Forsyth County elementary schools including Daves Creek, Sharon, Johns Creek, and Sawnee, working as a Gifted Teacher, Classroom Teacher, and Media Specialist. She also enjoyed travelling with her family and visited over 25 countries on 4 continents. When diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, she was disappointed at the lack of knowledge and support among those similarly situated. In response, she started a YouTube channel to chronicle her journey with treatment and to offer education and support to those themselves or with family members on the same path. Her video journals had hundreds of subscribers and encouraged viewers from all over the world.
She is preceded in death by her father Herman Lee Allison, father-in-law Thomas James Warr, maternal grandparents William and Hettie Darnell, and paternal grandparents Morgan and Sarah Allison of North Carolina.
Shannon is survived by her loving husband John Warr, children Lawton Warr and Harper Warr, mother Betty J. Allison, and mother-in-law Paula J. Warr.
Visitation will be held January 9, 2021 from 11-12PM at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be held at 12PM in the Chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to a fund with the Forsyth County Schools Education Foundation in Shannon's memory that will be established to purchase books for Forsyth County students.
