Ronald Gene Lane passed away on August 8, 2023. He was the son of Otis Anderson Lane and Dora Mae Booth Lane. Both of his parents predeceased him along with his sister Betty Ruth Lane Banks, Otis Alan Lane, In-Laws Bill and Betty Davis and niece Kiri Hawthorne. He leaves behind his wife Pamela Davis Lane of 52 Years, his daughters, Kelly Denise Callahan, (Chris), and Courtney Paige Hendrickson, (Mike). Grandchildren Cameron Callahan, Charlie Callahan, Katy Callahan, Burke Hendrickson, Tatum Hendrickson, sister-in-law Sharon Davis, and three nephews, Tim Banks, David Banks, and Andy Lane along with numerous great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lane was a proud member of the United States Air Force who served his country for four years and held a Top Secret Clearance for his work in cryptology and communications. He was a graduate of Georgia State University with a Marketing Degree. He joined both Sigma Nu and Alpha Kappa Psi fraternities so he would be sure of attending a party every weekend. He has life time friends who he met in those fraternities. He had a long career in the power utility industry, and liked to say, “he kept our power on”. Ron was a a founding member and Vice President of Southern Consolidated Utility Company, (SouthCon)
Mr. Lane grew up attending Harrison Road Baptist church in East Point and continued active service to the Lord in such churches at First Baptist of Avondale Estates and John’s Creek Baptist. He was proud that he was a charter member of the Tuesday morning men’s Bible study. He was thankful that his parents raised him in a Christian home and he did the same for his daughters. He is proud that his daughters and five grandchildren have followed in the way of the Lord. After his father died on Ron’s thirteenth Birthday, being a close family meant even more to him.
Ron’s family was the most important people in his life. He would do anything to help his children through life, lead them to know the Lord, and showed us his love everyday. All of his customers were presented photo books of his girls at each visit. They teased that those photos went from the children’s photos right into the grandchildren’s. He adored us all and we adored him. To know him was to love him.
A service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Johns Creek Baptist Church at 11:00AM. A reception will immediately follow the service.
Because I have loved life, I shall have no sorrow to die. Amelia Burr
