Richard "Rich" John White

Richard “Rich” John White, age 52 of Canton, Georgia, passed away on March 13, 2023, from complications related to cardiac arrest.

Rich was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched.  

Rich was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 13, 1971.  After several moves during his childhood, he graduated from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Georgia in 1988 and then went on to graduate from Kennesaw State University with a degree in psychology, in 1992.  During his time at Kennesaw State University, Rich was an active, charter member of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served in numerous roles with the fraternity including chaplain, earning him the nickname “Chappy”.

Rich enjoyed reading and had a true passion for all things sports related, including his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates.  He was an avid baseball fan, who dedicated many hours to analyzing statistics and watching games.  Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and being a father. 

Rich is survived by his son Alexander White (Emiline), his daughter Chamlee White, his parents Rose and Steven White, his brother Michael White (Kelly), grandson Samuel White, his nieces Lauren and Ella White in addition to assorted family members including aunts, uncles, cousins and many caring friends.

Rich is preceded in death by Richard and Beatrice White (paternal grandparents), John and Olga Hurka (maternal grandparents), and William Hurka (Uncle).

Rich’s family will receive friends Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11:00 am followed by his interment at Sawnee View Gardens.
