Reatha Mae Fields was born to the late John Elex Anderson and Annie Mae Kennedy on May 21, 1949. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
She received Christ at an early age and continued to serve the Lord in a mighty fine way throughout her entire life. She served and loved her church families faithfully. She was a member of Turners Temple (Baltimore, MD) under her uncle, the late Reverend Lawrence Walker. She later joined Southern Friendship Baptist Church (Baltimore, MD) where she was a member of the Vocal and Women’s Day choirs and served whenever needed until she moved to Georgia.
Reatha completed her primary and secondary education in South Carolina and went on to receive higher education in the state of Maryland. She retired from Verizon Communications after 30 years of service. To honor her cherished memories, Reatha leaves behind her children Takiyah D. Fields, George W. Fields II and Jamie E. Smith; grandchildren Ariana E. Smith, W. Carter Jeeter, Alana C. Smith and Xya L. Jack-Fields; siblings Annie R. Hicks, Margie Brailey, Katherine Muldrow, Mary Anderson, Timothy Anderson, Elex Anderson, Sarah Fields, Tyrome Fields and Gwendolyn Fields-Walker, her ex-husband George A. Fields, a host of nieces and nephews, and a myriad of additional family and friends that loved her dearly. She now reunites in heaven with her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, sister Pauline, brothers John and Marion, as well as her cousins, nieces and nephews.
