Matthew Everett "Skip" Maciolek died in Cumming, GA after a brief battle with cancer on Tuesday, April the 19th, at age 79. Born in Ludlow, MA, Skip grew up in Springfield, MA graduating from Springfield Technical High School in 1960 and then from the Northrup Institute of Technology
in Inglewood, CA in 1964. Following graduation he moved to Enfield, CT where he worked as an aeronautical and project test engineer at United Technologies Research Center in East Hartford, CT before retiring in 1999.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years Susan Elaine (Carter) Maciolek.
After retiring Skip and Sue made their home in Kihei (Maui) Hawaii and Cumming Georgia.
Skip leaves a son, Michael Maciolek and his wife Laura of Dawsonville, GA and a daughter, Katherine Coyne and her husband Scott of Woodstock, GA.
He also leaves 3 beloved grandsons: Kyle Maciolek of Easley, SC, Daniel Maciolek and Trey Maciolek, both of Dawsonville, GA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM until service time at 2:00 PM at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming Georgia.
A graveside service will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, well wishers make a donation to their local food bank or homeless shelter.
