Obituary

Linda Carol (nee’ Dover) Ford, age 75, loving mother of three and devoted wife of Joseph E. Ford, Jr. passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Linda was born in Rome, GA and eventually settled in Atlanta with her mother, Nettie Mae Stephens and her older brother Larry Dover. She and Joe became high school sweethearts at Chamblee High School, and they eventually married in 1966. Linda and Joe lived in Norfolk, VA while Joe was in the Navy and always regaled their children with the fun stories and adventures that she and Joe had while they lived in Virginia. Linda and Joe eventually moved back to Georgia, finally making their home in Cumming, GA, where they were very active in raising their three children: Jef, Michael, and Kristy. Linda and Joe were very involved in the children’s activities ranging from football, outdoor activities, Sawnee Ballet, and the Flash of Crimson Marching Band. Linda and Joe, along with the children, enjoyed numerous vacations to the mountains and the Gulf Coast. She worked hard as a homemaker, then started her own cleaning business, and eventually took a position at the USPS as a mail carrier from which she retired. She was a very caring and nurturing person who was inspired by her desire to help others. Linda volunteered at the local Humane Society and shared her love of animals with her children and loved watching birds, but especially her hummingbirds that she loved to feed. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and pets.

Linda is survived by her children Jef, Michael, and Kristy; their respective spouses; Eva, Sarah and Adam, and her three grandsons; Zachary, Landon, and Alec.
