Larry Michael McKinley

Larry Michael McKinley of Cumming, GA died on July 22, 2023. He was born February 7, 1944, in Columbus, OH. He was 79 years old. 

Larry was a 1962 graduate of St. Mary's High School in German Village in Columbus, OH. He served three years and 8 months in the U.S. Navy. He worked for IBM and retired after 30 plus years of working there. He moved multiple times for his job taking him to Poughkeepsie, NY, Columbia, SC, Marietta, GA until he finally retired in Cumming, GA. 

He loved to do woodworking, cabinet making, and working on cars, especially his two collectible Jaguars and his classic, red Chevy pickup truck. He would always help friends and neighbors with their computers, cars, or anything. He and his wife, Ivy, were known for hosting a Christmas Open house for family and friends for 23 years in their Cumming home. 

Larry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ivy; his three children, Niles, Justin, and Tiffiny; son-in-law, James; grandchildren, Hannah and Tyler: siblings, Tom, Kitty and Bill; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long-time friends. 

Larry is preceded in death by his parents John and Mary; and siblings, Charles, Pete, Jim, and Susie.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, starting at 2:00PM, at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
