On Saturday, August 19th 2023, Kenneth Wayne Smith, 85, passed in peace from this life and began his eternal walk with his Savior Jesus Christ. Kenneth was born on April 10th, 1938 in Knoxville, TN to James and Nellie Smith. Being one of fourteen children, Ken lived a very modest lifestyle. He was baptized in the Loudon Lake, Louisville, Tennessee in the late 1940's. Married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Jean in 1957, then moved to California where together they raised 3 children, Craig, Steven, and Jennifer. During the 1980's, Ken was an influential part of the industrial development in Orange County, California. Kenneth was a very generous man who enjoyed Gospel music and family. There was never the need for a special occasion, being together was special enough. After Ken retired, he moved to Dawsonville, GA to be close to his youngest grandchildren and enjoy the rain. Ken took many trips back to Tennessee to reminisce with old friends and loved ones about simpler times. He fought for three years through dialysis treatments to remain strong for his family and did so until the end. Kenneth is predeceased by his eldest son, Ronald Craig. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, 2 children, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and his 3 siblings and families, and many family friends. Ken impacted a multitude of lives in his 85 years of representing the Lord, not a soul who truly knew him believed this kind man could have earned his nickname, Grumpy. Services will be held, August 30th, 11am, at the Mcdonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia.
