Joseph “Joe” Zimniak, age 68, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on January 10, 2021. He was born on October 4, 1952 in Ulm, Germany.
Joe was a fun-loving man whose passion was music and he fulfilled that passion through playing the drums. He loved fishing, gardening, and time spent with family. Although Joe had a quiet demeanor, he always stood up for what he believed in and would never hesitate to help out a friend in need. Furthermore, he had a gentle heart, and believed that every individual was deserving of kindness and compassion. In addition to his personal interests, Joe spent over 30 years working for General Motors, and served for many years as a union representative. He was well suited to this elected position since he enjoyed representing and defending the interests of his fellow union employees. In true Joseph Zimniak fashion, he would not want us to be saddened by his passing. Instead, he would tell us to, “Get the party started!”
Joe is preceded in death by his parents: Elsa and Josef Zimniak and his sister-in-law: Louise Zimniak. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years: Kathleen Zimniak; daughters: Tiffany Czajka (Chris) of Atlanta and Alexis Zimniak of Atlanta; brothers: Henry Zimniak of Illinois and John Zimniak (Michele) of New York; sister: Christine Baum (John) of Florida; and many other relatives.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 1:00 pm until service time at 2:00 pm at the McDonald and Son Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the American Red Cross (https://www.redcross.org/) on his behalf.
