Phil was born in Atlanta to James Winford Wright and Maud Stenhouse Wright. As a child, Phil loved
sports, particularly baseball, which became a lifelong passion. He graduated from Murphy High School
and began a successful career in the music industry beginning with Capital Records and later operating a
popular record store in the Atlanta area. Phil went on to work for the State of Georgia, providing
services to intellectually-disabled adults to enable and empower them to have rewarding employment, a
career from which he retired in 2002. Phil also served honorably in the Georgia National Guard. Phil
enjoyed playing cards, loved country music and was a diehard Atlanta Braves fan. Phil’s love for his wife,
his family and his friends was only surpassed by his love for Jesus Christ, whom he worshiped and served
as a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Cumming.
Arrangements are in the care of McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA.
