Harold, (Hal) Lee Bennett 73, a retired Forensic Investigator and military man, from Cumming GA, by way of Charleston West Virginia ran into the arms of Jesus on October 4th, 2021.
Hal was a beloved family man and man of faith, known for his outgoing character and crazy stories about his time in the military, life and everything in between.
Hal loved adventure and whether he was jumping out of plane or into the ocean, diving was his sport. In fact, he was one of the first divers at the Georgia Aquarium when it opened in 2005.
He spent his winters hunting in South Georgia and Pennsylvania and his summers on Lake Lanier, usually with his wife Carol telling him to “slow the boat down”.
Hal was a servant, not just of God, but of the people. He spent 20+ years in law enforcement serving his community and 23+ years in the Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force serving his country. And retired from both loved, honored and respected.
Throughout his life, Hal loved his time leading the boy scouts, coaching his kids and grandkids in sports, teaching them all to dive, he even managed to push one of them out of a plane.
Through it all, if you asked him what his greatest adventure was, he would tell you it was being a grandfather and great grandfather, as each little one brough him so much joy.
The end to a perfect story, that all started sitting in a bar on Bennett Street of all places, in Atlanta Ga, when he looked across the room and saw a young lady he knew would become his wife.
Hal is survived by his wife; Carolyn Bennett of Cumming, Georgia.
Children; Anita Powell (Blair) of Pensacola, Florida; Nathan Bennett (Tressa) of Dawsonville, Georgia; Charlie Bennett (Molly) of Cumming, Georgia; and Jeff Bennett (Rosa) of Sandy Springs, Georgia.
