Obituary

Joan “Gail” Lawrence of Alpharetta, GA. peacefully passed away at 9:20 AM on April 23, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 80. Gail was born in Winter Haven, FL, in 1942 to Virgile and Nadine Brooks. She graduated from Winter Haven High School class of 1960. Shortly after graduation, she married the love of her life, Lonnie Lawrence. They had four sons together and remained together until Lonnie passed away in 2002.

Gail is survived by her children Mark Lawrence, Mike Lawrence, Adam Lawrence, and Jason Lawrence. Her grandchildren Savanah Barnett, Connor Lawrence, Josh Lawrence, Avery Lawrence, Sam Lawrence, Preston Lawrence, Piper Lawrence, Parker Lawrence, and her great-grandchildren Kason Lawrence, Tucker Lawrence, Mackenzie, and her younger sister Glenda Burnam and her beloved dog Chloe. 

Gail was a Christian, a philanthropist, an animal lover, and a dedicated mother. She spent years advocating for children in rural Georgia facing poverty and abuse. Since the passing of her husband in 2002 Gail has longed for the day that they would be reunited in Heaven.

On April 30th, 2022 following an intimate family service at McDonald and Son funeral home, Gail will be laid to rest next to her husband at Sawnee View Gardens cemetery in Cumming, GA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Wounded Warriors Project.
