Freda Pearl Meador (91) passed peacefully on February 10, 2021 in Cumming, GA, following a recurrence of breast cancer. Born November 4, 1929, to Ada and Earl Richmond, Freda was raised in the home built by her grandparents, on the family farm in Pluto, Raleigh County, WV. After graduating from Richmond District High School, she married her sweetheart and dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother to her only child, and later a loving first caretaker for her only grandchild. In 2002, she moved to be near her family in Georgia after losing her husband of 46 years, and her vision due to macular degeneration. Freda was a kind, generous and honest woman with a quiet demeanor and sly wit. She loved her family and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, listening to worship on the radio, playing card games and going on summer road trips.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Cameron Meador, and beloved brother, Charles Norvel Richmond.
She is survived by her daughter Joanne Meador Suma (Ben) of Cumming, GA, granddaughter Julia Suma Herrera (Rob) of Roswell, GA and two adored great-granddaughters, Talia and Carina Herrera.
She will be mourned privately by immediate family and laid to rest beside her husband at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, WV. No public service is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements by McDonald and Son Funeral Home of Cumming, GA.
