Franklin Delano Harrison

Obituary

Franklin “Tiny” Delano Harrison of Cumming, Georgia passed away on June 3, 2022, following an extended illness.

Tiny was born on March 20, 1937 to W.G. and Nellie (Cooper) Harrison in Azalea, North Carolina.  He married his wife, Jean, on July 2,1959.  Their marriage lasted nearly 63 years, they had four children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.  He worked in the construction business, and in 1969 moved his family to Georgia.  He worked for Monumental Properties in Atlanta for several years before starting his own business, Harrison Decking. He and his sons, along with other business partners, built decks on homes in the north Atlanta metro area for over twenty years.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their many endeavors.  He could be found watching their different sporting events, fishing or building Lego structures.  After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, watching his favorite sports teams, birdwatching and putting together jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by his wife, Jean; children: Keith (Kim), Dean (Misty), Kathy and Robert (Fonda); grandchildren:  Amy (Michael), Eli, Hannah, Bobby (Hilary), Nellie, Haley, Drew and Ally; great granddaughter:  Finley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Garfield and Nellie Lucy Harrison; brothers:  Orville Sam Harrison, Robert “J.R.” Harrison, William McKinley Harrison, and sister, Ruby Wagner.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 6th, 2022 from 2:00pm-4:00pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 4:15pm on Monday, June 6th, 2022 at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
