Edsel "Deene" Horn

March 11, 1935 ~ April 13, 2022 (age 87)

Edsel Deene Horn (87), longtime resident of Eden Prairie, Minnesota and more recently of Suwanee, Georgia, was surrounded by his family as he entered his heavenly home at 2:45 PM on April 13, 2022.

Deene was born in Tallulah, Louisiana on March 11, 1935 to James O. and Burdeene Horn. He attended LSU where he studied architecture and then joined the United States Air Force. He served in Japan during the Korean War era and upon returning to the states was stationed in Minot, North Dakota where he met his wife, Shirley. They moved to and resided in the Minneapolis area of Minnesota for nearly 60 years where they raised their children. In 2020, they moved to Georgia to live with their daughter, Kristie, during the Covid pandemic.

Deene had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, which impacted his entire life. He was a loving and faithful husband and friend to Shirley for nearly 63 years. He was a wonderful, caring and gentle dad to Peter and Kristie. He was a true gentleman and man of integrity who was generous, kind, loyal, positive, encouraging, creative, athletic, and funny. Deene was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Deene’s favorite word was confidence. When asked if he was scared about what was happening as his body began to shut down, he said, “Never!” He clung to the words of Hebrews 4:16, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Deene had confidence in the saving grace of Jesus Christ, as he walked into the arms of his Heavenly Father. While we are sad to be left behind, we rejoice that He spent this Easter in his heavenly home with Jesus!

In addition to his parents, Deene was preceded in death by his brother Gerald Horn; son, Peter Horn; and son-in-law, Robert Clobes.

Deene is survived by wife, Shirley Horn, and daughter, Kristie Horn Clobes.
