Earl Carter Clemons, age 84, died peacefully on July 24th, 2021 after a brief illness.
Carter was born on November 3, 1936 in Chattanooga, TN to Earl M. and Marjorie I. (Carter) Clemons and spent his childhood on Lookout Mountain.
After graduating from Castle Heights Military Academy in Lebanon, TN, he went on to attend the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. He also served in the U.S. Army and was stationed for a time in Germany.
In 1964, he married Patricia Luke and settled in Atlanta where they had three sons.
Carter was a gifted salesperson and was known for his quick wit. His hobbies included working in his yard, playing golf, and fishing. In retirement, he became known as “Mr. Carter” and was a beloved community figure.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; two sons, Charlie (Erin) and David (Donnamarie); four grandchildren, Emmy, Paige, Caroline, and Dylan, and sister, Gloria Brantly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Carter Clemons, Jr.
