She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 72 years, Johnson W. “Dub” Brown and two children, Mark and Judith.
Doris was born at home in Kennesaw, GA, July 8, 1925. She moved from there at the age of 2 and settled in Rome, GA, until moving to Atlanta when she was 14. She attended Girls High and enjoyed skating in Grant Park near their home. After meeting Dub through mutual friends in 1942, they soon married and Dub joined the Navy on their wedding day. When Dub returned from WWII, they settled in Chamblee, GA, to raise their family. They both worked hard to establish and run Brown Auto Service for over 60 years. She became the “first lady” of Chamblee when Dub was elected Mayor in 1980. She was very involved at Chamblee First Methodist Church and later at Cumming First Methodist - teaching Sunday School and serving in every way she could. She loved family reunions, Lions Club, puzzles and games, sewing, cooking, PTA and writing poetry. Her 95 years were filled with love of family, many accomplishments, hard work, and fun - she made the world a better place !
