Mrs. Bette Carolyn Sewell passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 in Cumming, Georgia at the age of 86 years. A wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, she was wonderfully devoted to her husband and 4 children, was a loving grandmother to her 6 grandchildren, and an aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Our mother was busy, raising children, volunteering at the church, and teaching students at Crossroads Baptist Church, formerly known as Azalea City Baptist Church. Well known for her animated storytelling and artistic talents, she spent many years emboldening and encouraging her students and is fondly remembered by those who filled her classrooms. Mom was a devoted Catholic, who spent countless hours volunteering at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was an active member.
Mom was a sports enthusiast and a loyal fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Lebron James. She was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman.
She was preceded in death by parents, James Eidson and Louise (Carl) Swickerath; her daughter, Pamela Sewell; two brothers, Robert Eidson (Peggy) and Mike Swickerath; and one sister, Jerrilyn Swickerath.
She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Haskell Ries Sewell; her daughter and son-in-law, Connie Sewell (Ronnie Weeks); her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick Sewell (Annie); her daughter and son-in-law, Marie Nguyen (Adam); grandchildren, Crystal Catoe, Joseph Cumbess, Jessica Pope, Isobel Sewell, Clara Nguyen, and Fletcher Nguyen; and one sister, Lyn Preston (Robert).
