James Pryce Templin, 4th Obituary (1967

James Pryce Templin, 4th, Jamie of Cumming, Georgia, died of a heart attack on January 12, 2014. He was 46. He was known for his big heart, his enduring friendship, and his sense of adventure. Jamie loved people and never met a stranger. For Jamie the glass was always completely full, never half empty. Jamie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 11, 1967. His mother, Fredonia Patterson Templin, and his father James Pryce Templin, 3rd, moved from Indiana to Illinois, where Jamie s sister, Anna Christine, was born. The family moved on to New Jersey and then on to Luxembourg, where they enjoyed an ex-pat life for four years, travelling throughout Europe. Jamie always had fond memories of these travels and the American School of Luxembourg. Jamie learned to ski in Austria when he was 6. The family moved from Luxembourg to Libertyville, Illinois, where Jamie attended Highland Upper Grade Center and Libertyville High School, and then on to Smyrna, Georgia where Jamie attended Campbell High School. Jamie played center for the Campbell High School football team, and earned the award of the player doing most to help the team during his senior year. Jamie attended Stevens Institute of Technology and was a member of the Chi Phi fraternity, where he met many lifelong friends. He later graduated from Shorter College and then earned a MBA from Georgia State University. Jamie worked at Nextel, where he earned employee of the year, and Verizon Wireless, always being strongly focused on superb customer satisfaction. While travelling to volunteer for the Special Olympics in 1996, Jamie met Mary Cynthia MC Ledford. After two more chance encounters, the two began dating and fell in love, marrying on June 27, 1998, and honeymooned in Seagrove, Florida. Jamie and MC enjoyed travelling, participating in adventures and living life to the fullest. They skied together almost yearly in Colorado, traveled to Scotland, Hawaii, Italy, and many other places. Jamie and MC were avid football fans, holding season tickets for the Atlanta Falcons and always cheering for MC s alma mater, Appalachian State University. On their eighth anniversary, June 27, 2006, their son Frederic Pryce Templin was born. Jamie was a soccer coach, a scout leader, and he always found ways to share his love of life with Pryce. Jamie is survived by his wife Mary Cynthia Templin and son Pryce of Cumming, Georgia; his mother Fredonia Patterson Templin of Renfroe, Georgia; his father James Pryce Templin, 3rd of West Chester, Pennsylvania; his sister Anna Kinney and her husband David of Seattle, Washington; his nephews Eli and Walter; and his mother-in-law Anne Malcom Ledford. Jamie was deeply attached to his cousins, aunts and uncles in the extended Malcom family and in his Patterson and Templin family. Jamie was a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 14, from 5 to 8pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The memorial will be on Wednesday, January 15, at 2pm also at the funeral home.
