Dennis Francis Schares Obituary (1945

Dennis Francis Schares passed away on October 4th, 2022, at his home in Cumming, Georgia. He was born on January 26, 1945, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Francis and Alma (Delagardelle) Schares. Dennis graduated from Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville, Iowa, in 1963. He served in the Navy for six years serving in Alameda, California. Dennis graduated from Iowa State University in 1973 and worked at John Deere for 38 years. Dennis could build or fix anything. He built multiple homes and even customized his Harley. Throughout the years, Dennis enjoyed shooting skeet with friends and dreamed of being part of Vans RV Air Force. He proudly and meticulously worked to build his own RV-8. Dennis enjoyed the building process while working and sharing with his friends. It was a labor of love. Dennis was a warm and generous man. He was adored by his children and grandchildren for his loveable sense of humor. Dennis is survived by his wife, Peggy, and their two children Jessie (Darin) Nelson of Cumming, Georgia, and Joey (Caroline) Schares of Johns Creek, Georgia. Dennis also leaves behind two granddaughters, Ashlynn Nelson and Sadie Schares. In addition, Dennis' surviving siblings are Donna Burton, Doris McGee, Suzie Howard, Wayne Schares, and Al Schares. Visitation will be Sunday, October 9th, from 2 to 4. The Divine Mercy prayer will be said at 3 o'clock. The funeral will be at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Monday, October 10th at 11 o'clock. Burial will be at Sawnee View Gardens following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
