Eugene William Rider, 92, of Cumming, GA ( formerly of Roswell, GA) died at Embracing Hospice House on February 16, 2013. Born in Oakwood, GA, he was the son of the late Herschel and Velia Rider. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Ruth Beatrice Rider.

Gene served in the US Navy during WWII. He was a retired engineer with the Georgia State Patrol. He was a 65 year Mason and member of Roswell Masonic Lodge # 165 F&A.M., and a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church.

Gene is survived by his children, James E. (Gail) Rider of Cumming, GA and Richard D. (Shirley) Rider of Cumming, GA; sister, Ailene Anderson of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Greg (Jenny) Rider, Kim Rider, Shelby (Ryan) Gober, Genia (Marty) Standridge and Rick (Logan) Rider all of Cumming; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Bennett will officiate. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 19 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
