Margherita Elena “GiGi” (Sicilia) Ceraso passed into Heaven Saturday morning, December 29, 2012. Beloved wife of Charles “Chuck” M. Ceraso for 72 years, Margherita’s love and laughter will endure in the hearts of her family and many friends. Margherita is survived by her husband and 2 loving sons: Frank of Apollo, PA and David of Cumming, GA; Lucy wife to David; 3 grandchildren: Angela Driggers and husband Clark; Katie Reed and husband Jonathan; and Charlie Ceraso and wife Amy. Also, dear to her heart were her 5 great-grandchildren, Bailey and Mac Driggers, and Sicilia, Lucy and Rynn Reed. Margherita was born on Jan. 23, 1915 in Fall River, Mass. where she lived until her marriage in 1940. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School and worked as a seamstress in a factory making army uniforms. When she and Chuck married they moved to his hometown of Vandergrift, PA. Here, she raised her sons and worked as a dental assistant. She retired and she and Chuck began spending their winters in Orlando , FL. In 2005, they moved to Cumming , GA to be near grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They enjoyed many family celebrations, picnics, boat rides, ballet recitals, baseball and soccer games. They also enjoyed the many visits by neighbors and church friends. Margherita will always be remembered for her delicious food and Italian cookies. But most of all Margherita’s love of God, love of family and family traditions, encouragement, guidance, courage, humility, servanthood, wisdom and strength will forever remain a driving force in the shaping of her family’s lives. A celebration of Margherita’s life will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013 at 10:30 AM at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, 150 Sawnee Dr., Cumming, GA 30040. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Whispering Hope Women’s Resource and Pregnancy Center, 133 Samaritan Dr., Cumming, GA 30040 in memory of Margherita Ceraso.
